6th ISDC Brief Announced

The first IAHH International Student Design Competition was organized in 2003.

The theme of the competition was ” Affordable Housing for the Urban Poor”. The competition attracted 37 entries from 13 countries, although 52 student teams had registered from 15 countries. The international jury unanimously decided on the winners.

The first prize was awarded to the students group Habitatbilidad ofMadrid, Technical School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Spain. The second prize was won by the Japanese students of Design and Architecture, Department of Environmental Planning & School of Environmental Sciences, of the University of Shiga Prefecture. The third prize went to a student from School of Architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad, India. The Jury also awarded two honourable mentions to the students of Technical University of Graz, Austria and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The awards worth Rs.100,000 were distributed.

The International Jury consisted of Prof. Rodney Harber, Durban, South Africa; Prof. Peter Schreibmayer, Graz, Austria; Prof. Frank Lyons, Plymouth, U.K.; Prof. Thomas Bock, Munich, Germany; Prof. M.N. Ashish Ganju, New Delhi, India and Dr. B. S. Bhooshan, Mysore, India. Prof. Anil Nagrath was the technical co-ordinator of the competition.

The second IAHH International Student Design Competition 2004 is announced recently. It deals with the theme of Revitalization of an urban area as a sustainable community.
